Every day we should think about Iran without executions

Mrs. Sho’le Pakravan, Reyhaneh Jabbari’ mother wrote in her Facebook page:
“As you celebrate the New Year and greet family and friends, we should also remember those being taken to the gallows. Last year a number of people were executed during the New Year’s celebrations.
The execution machine has proven how it takes complete advantage of negligence. The execution of Shahla Jahed and the death of the dear twins attached at birth, Laleh and Ladan. Acid attacks and the execution of my daughter. We should have these two issues as reference in mind. Hundreds of similar cases can also be mentioned.
There are times when the execution machine needs for us to go to sleep and no longer be aware, so they can [kill] the youths. We should keep our eyes open. There will be more New Year celebrations in the future. However, an individual executed will never come back. Each execution is an another ring added to the chain of wrath, hatred and despair. This chain injects violence in the veins of our country. A land engulfed with violence, a frightening and unsafe place for our future generations.
We are responsible before the future generations. We should protect our children and grandchildren by being aware and not pretend we don’t know.
At all gatherings spend a few moments talking about the ugly phenomenon of execution. Place ourselves in the shoes of those families who this New Years are concerned about their loved ones’ court rulings.
We should discuss the mass executions of previous decades.
We should remind ourselves and others that negligence to matters instigating violence in our society endangers our children’s future. As in the not so distant future, our own son or daughter will be placed under the notorious shadow of execution.
Each day we should think about an Iran without execution.
