Iran: skirmish reported between street vendors & police in Tehran

On the morning of Thursday, March 17th repressive police were seen stationed in various parts of Tehran’s bazaar and adjacent streets. These units suddenly began arresting street vendors, raising unrest throughout the bazaar and street vendors were reported to resist and protest these crackdown measures.
Storeowners in Sirous Avenue (known as Mostafa Khomeini) rushed to the street vendors’ support and clashed with the police. Bystanders at the scene also protest the repressive measures used by the regime police.
Further skirmishes and clashes were also reported on 15th Khordad Avenue in Tehran, raising major unrest throughout the area. The police were also seen harassing street vendors in Ferdowsi, Manuchehri and Jomhouri avenues, along with many other sections throughout the Iranian capital.
