Iranian regime Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei appointed head henchman Ebrahim Raisi, regime’s General Prosecutor responsible for the death of thousands of political prisoners and the 1988 massacre, as the custodian of Astan Quds Razavi after the death of the criminal cleric Vaez Tabasi, its former custodian. Raisi is a trusted pawn of Khamenei and son in law of cleric Ahmad Alam al-Hoda, Khamenei’s bully in the Assembly of Experts and the Friday prayer Imam of Mashhad.
By appointing Raisi as the head of one of the biggest economic foundations in Iran, Khamenei plans to preserve his unquestionable dominion over this financial empire and to fill the pockets of regime’s leaders from its astronomical income while providing for the growing expenses of the wars in Syria, Iraq and Yemen from the pockets of deprived Iranian people.
At no time during its 1200 years history has the wealth of Astan Quds Razavi been plundered by local or state rulers to such as extent and some of its income had always been used for the needy and for public services. Just the endowment lands owned by Astan Quds Razavi throughout Iran are worth tens of billions of dollars. This financial institute has invested in all sectors of the economy such as agriculture, food industry, pharmaceuticals, auto industry, constructions, mining, energy and information technology reaping astronomical income. By Khomeini’s directive, this financial empire is exempt from all taxes.
Astan Quds Razavi with its vast wealth and income could have been employed to improve country’s economy and reduce poverty, unemployment and inflation, but it is now solely used for suppression and warmongering and it further drives Iranian people into poverty.
Raisi was one of the members of the death committee in 1988. In objection to the massacre of political prisoners, Khomeini’s successor-to-be Montazeri wrote to Raisi and three other head henchmen: “This kind of slaughter of prisoners and detainees without any trials will surely benefit them in the long run. They will be further encouraged to carry out with their armed struggle and the international community will condemn us. Combating an idea by killing people is wrong… the People’s Mojahedin are a sort of a belief. It cannot be resolved through killing but will rather spread…”
The criminal Raisi became Karaj’s Prosecutor in 1980 while he was just 20 years old and he was concurrently appointed Prosecutor of Hamadan as well. In 1985 he was appointed Deputy Revolutionary Prosecutor of Tehran and played a prominent role in the 1988 massacre while holding this position. From 1989 to 1994 he was Prosecutor of Tehran and from 1994 to 2004 he was the head of State Inspectorate. From 2004 to 2014 he was first deputy to regime’s judiciary and in the past two years he was State General Prosecutor. By Khamenei’s order, he was also appointed General Special Prosecutor for clerics which is the apparatus that suppresses and murders clerics that refuse to obey Khamenei. This henchman should be brought to face justice for his crimes against humanity.
