Report: Unemployment among women twice as much as men in Iran

A look at the most recent official report issued by the Iran Statistics Center over unemployment rates in 12 different age groups shows these numbers remain high in the most important age groups of people looking for work. These numbers are at least twice that of the national average.
In the fall of 2015, unemployment amongst youths between the ages of 20 to 24, being amongst the most important group of people seeking employment in Iran’s job market, is 2.4 times that of the national unemployment rate. Such conditions can be understood more if we come to learn that unemployment amongst women in this same age group is 4.2 times that of the national unemployment rate.
Moreover, unemployment amongst women under the age of 30 is currently twice that of men in this age group. Unemployment amongst women in urban areas is 1.8 times more than women under the age of 30 living in rural areas. To provide a clearer picture, unemployment rates amongst the most important age group of people seeking employment in Iran in the fall of 2015 ranged from a minimum of 22% to a maximum of 52.9%.
In the first 3 months of this year’s fall season unemployment in the age group of 10 to 14, consisting of individuals who are not ready to actually enter the job market and are mainly in their school years, was 3.2%. These numbers suddenly rise to 21.5% for the age group of 15 to 19. As specified, unemployment amongst the age group of 20 to 24 is 26.5%, and 20.8% amongst the age group of 25 to 29.
