Iran: strike leads to scuffle with state agents in Tehran

From 9 am on Thursday, February 18th, workers in a fruits and vegetables bazaar went on strike protesting insulting behavior by municipality agents and also preventing their customers from entering the bazaar. These agents intended to exploit the street vendors and attacked their goods under the pretext of searching for narcotics. Two of these street vendors were also summoned by state agents for questioning.
Storeowners in this bazaar said they will continue their strike until these two employees are allowed to return.


State agents beaten, forced out of restaurant


Agents of the Health Ministry, accompanied by repressive police officers, intended to enter a restaurant in Noroozkhanan bazaar on Thursday, February 18th. However, the employees and a group of locals protested their measures. A scuffle erupted when the agents intended to enter the restaurant by force and people prevented them from doing so, forcing them out of the facility.
