Iran: Supplementary report on Mashhad demonstration

According to supplementary reports filed to the PMOI website from reporters on the scene, following the arrest of a number of Mashhad protesters who had gathered today, Thursday, January 7, 2016 at Bargh Sq. to demand their rights, the protesters changed tactics and brock up at the previously called gathering spot only to converge again at another substitute place that they already had thought of in case their first location was jammed by the police and security forces.
The victims of the government plundering scheme of Shandiz project this time went to their second location on Danesh cross-section and continued on their peaceful demonstration. But this new location was also washed with more than 500 security and plainclothes agents with more than 100 vehicles and vans to prevent the demonstration from taking shape.
The protesters didn’t give up and moved to the third location at Bab-al Javad Gate to avoid being arrested or harassed. The police then quickly moved to this location and started to beat the protesters using batons and other harsh methods.
Some reports put the number of arrested up to 100 peaceful protesters.
Sources say the mullahs’ regime, fearing the quick spread of the unrest, was prepared in advance and had placed the security and police in the City of Mashhad on full alert.
