Iran: imprisoned activist to be finally sent to medical centers

Atena Daemi, a child rights activist, is scheduled to be sent to medical centers on Monday, September 12. This has been provided after long follow-ups by the family of this prisoner.
Daemi is currently in her 10th month behind bars in the women’s ward of Evin Prison waiting the opinion of an appeals court on her case. Prior to this Amnesty International had called for her release. This human rights organization also called on Iran to provide necessary medical care for this civil activist and respecting the International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights, which Iran is a signatory to, and acknowledge her right to freedom of speech and belief.
Daemi had previously suffered from heart illness. She was kept in solitary confinement for a long time with poor hygiene conditions and lack of access to fresh air and sunlight. This led to skin illnesses and also severe weak eyesight. Her physical conditions are reported as critical.
