Thousands of Syrian refugees entered Austria and Germany from Hungary on Saturday, September 5th. On Saturday night the city of Munich in Germany welcomed thousands of asylum seekers. The German people and government institutions warmly welcomed these asylum seekers who had been under extreme pressure in the past few days in Hungary.
European Union foreign ministers were also holding an emergency session in Luxembourg on Saturday to discuss the migrant crisis.
German Chancellor Angela Merkel said her government can accept these Syrian refugees without increasing taxes, adding that assisting asylum seekers is considered a top priority for the German government.
