Ms. Soheila Sadeq, Chair of the Education Committee of the National Council of Resistance of Iran, expressed her deep sorrow for the shocking self-immolation of a freedom-loving teacher Mr. Mansour Kayhani and offered her condolences to his honorable family and the people of Kermanshah and the country’s educators. She called on the Iranian people to rise in support and solidarity with the country’s educators and to protest against the unbearable conditions that the Iranian regime has imposed on this hardworking section of the society.
On Sunday, August 30, Mr. Mansour Kayhani, who was under enormous pressure out of the regime’s extortions in Sanqar County as he wanted to obtain a construction permit, set himself ablaze near the town governor’s building using gasoline and lost his life.
The heartbreaking death of Mr. Mansour Kayhani, who was married and had four children, raised the wrath and repugnance of the people, especially those living in Sanqar, toward the Iranian regime and its crimes.
Amir Shahabadi, deputy governor of Kermanshah Province on political-security affairs, stated that the reason for this suicide was “protest against some debts regarding the construction permit with the Sanqar municipality” (IRNA state news agency – August 30, 2015).
Ms. Soheila Sadeq said: “The heartbreaking death of Mr. Mansour Kayhani comes at a time when teachers in various cities have repeatedly staged protests in recent months to obtain their most basic rights.” She went on to add: “As long as the regime of velayat-e faqih is in power, all of the wealth of the Iranian people will be spent on suppression or export of terrorism and fundamentalism, or will be channeled to the bank accounts of this regime’s leaders and officials; and the Iranian educators, much like the other deprived strata, will face poverty. The only solution to all this pain and suffering is the overthrow of this regime by the Iranian people and their Resistance and the establishment of democracy in Iran.”
