New reform plan of Iraqi Prime Minister Haider al-Abadi

Based on the reform plan presented by Iraqi Prime Minister Dr. Haider al-Abadi, approved by the Council of Minister and the Iraqi Parliament, the following orders and government instructions have been issued by Prime Minister al-Abadi:
– Decision to decrease up to 90%, the number of guards for dignitaries, officials and heads of organizations, and cancelling any special protection battalions for these dignitaries, and returning these battalions to the ministries of Defense and Interior. This will allow an annual 250 billion dinars in salaries and over 20,000 security personnel to be placed at the government’s disposal.
– Restructuring the special protection battalions of the heads of the three branches, offices of the vice presidents and deputy prime ministers.
– Iraqi Prime Minister ordered all premiums for offices of vice presidents and deputy prime ministers to be returned to the general treasury of the government.
– Forming a high expertise committee to revoke the differences in salaries; decrease officials’ maximum retirement salaries; forming a high committee to elect candidates of high posts; forming high committees to force ministries and irrelevant parties to the cabinet to be held accountable; specifying a timetable and August 31 deadline to implement the decision to revoke the posts of advisors in ministries and limiting the advisors of each branch to a maximum of 5.
