Iran: increasing suicide rate among Kurdistan women

The wave of suicides amongst the deprived women of Iran Kurdistan during Hassan Rouhani’s tenure as president has significantly increased in an alarming rate.
During the past few days three Kurdish women, including two young girls, ended their lives, according to local sources.
During the past few days a 21-year old woman in the city of Sardasht and a 24-year old woman in Piranshahr hanged themselves.
There have also been 10 other suicide cases in Iran Kurdistan cities, four of which led to deaths. 6 of these 10 cases were in one village alone.
Poverty, unemployment and being deprived of the most basic living necessities are the main reason behind deprived women and youths committing suicide. Under Rouhani’s watch as crackdown has increased and the number of executions have skyrocketed, people are left with no choice but to end their miseries in such horrific fashion.
Recently another village witnessed two of its youths hanging themselves as they were not able to help their families make ends meet.
