International Federation of Education calls for immediate release of Iranian activist

The International Federation of Education, consisting of 396 organizations and trade unions in 171 countries and representing 32.5 million teachers and instructors, issued a call for the immediate release of Ismaeel Abdi, Secretary-General of the Teachers Trade Union in Iran.
Abdi was arrested on June 27th while seeking to get a visa to Armenia to take part in the International Education Congress in Ottawa, Canada. Peyman Nudinian, a representative of the trade union who was scheduled to take part in this global conference, has been banned from leaving the country.
