Iran: 70% people of Baluchis live under poverty

The MP from the city of Khash of southeastern Iran admitted on June 24 in an open-door session of the regime’s so-called parliament that more than 70% people of Sistan & Baluchistan Province are living in poverty.
“This province has been ranked as last in lack of progress in the years of 1986, 1996 and 2006,” said Hamid Reza Pashang.
“This province’s low share of management of the country’s political and economic affairs has placed us amongst the 12 last provinces in progress. The census conducted in 2006 and 2011 showed a deep rift between our province and Tehran. The census of 2011 showed high unemployment in this province. 51% of this province consists of rural areas and our province’s income is less than 1% of the national GNP. Even two thirds of this province is deprived of drinking water. Only 50% of the students in this province actually finish their education, and we have 150,000 to 200,000 people that are classified as drop-outs. The average distance between villages and schools is 30 kilometers, and one third of the classrooms are held in non-standard atmospheres,” he added.
