Popo Francoise canonized two Palestinian nuns

Two 19th century Palestinian Nuns have been canonized by Pope Françoise in a ceremony at the Vatican. The Nuns are the first Palestinians in modern time to achieve sainthood. And their canonizations are seen as the sign the Vatican support for the Christian community of the Middle East.

 

 

At the ceremony was Mahmoud Abbas, president of Palestine. He was told by Popo Françoise that he is “an angle of Peace.” A delegation from Israel also attended the canonization.

 

 

Over 2000 Palestinian Catholics travel to Rome for the event, largest of its kind in recent times. They also gave the Pope a warm reception. The new saints are the first from Palestine to be named by the church since the earliest days of Christianity. Only this month was the Catholic Church formally recognized the existence of the Palestinian State. Vatican bulletin have increasingly been put out in Arabic as well as in English and main European languages. Pope Françoise explained why the two Palestinian nuns being held as role models for all today’s Catholics to follow.

 

 

Pope Françoise popularity among Catholics and non-Catholics continues to grow. Today ceremony attracted tens of thousands of pilgrims and tourists.
