Following yesterday’s uprising in Mahabad, northwestern Iran, the city of Sar Dasht, 45 miles to the south of Mahabad, also became the scene of people’s uprising on Saturday May 9. People clashed with the Stat Security Forces, SSF, after they went to the streets to condemn the intelligence ministry agent’s attempt to abuse a young 26-year-old female hotel worker. The SSF attacked the demonstrators with batons injuring a number of demonstrators. 10 people were also arrested. The situation in the city is tense right now.
This protest act by the people in Sar Dasht is in response to the Friday’s uprising in Mahabad which according to some reports up to 700 people have been arrested in that city alone.
