At an urgent meeting in Riyadh, Saudi Arabi, the Gulf Cooperation Council members condemned the coup by the Houthi rebels in Yemen. They also urged the UN Security Council to take binding measure under the Chapter Seven of the UN Charter in Yemen.
Chapter Seven of the UN Charter engages in the global peace and security and any intervention in other countries. It gives the Council the leverage it needs to act militarily or impose economic sanctions. The GCC urgent meeting took place on Saturday Feb. 15th in New York.
