Iran: Prisoner transfer to the solitary for protesting human rights abuse

Jayhand Rigi, a political prisoner has been transferred to the solitary on Wednesday for protesting human rights abuse and medieval condition of the prison. His transfer is part of wide campaign of torture and harassment by Golami, the head warden in Zahedan prison and other officials to intimidate prisoners and to silence any dissent.
Solitary cells lack any basic facilities and are meant to breakdown prisoners psychologically. Mr. Rigi’s contact to the outside world has been cut off and he is denied any visits.
Human rights and democracy activists have condemned and protested the transfer of Mr. Rigi to the solitary and have called on High Commissioner for Human Rights and other international organizations to strongly condemn this barbaric and medieval act and to intervene to free Mr. Rigi.
