France’s new cabinet line-up

AFP, 26 August 2014 - French President Francois Hollande on Tuesday named a fresh cabinet under Prime Minister Manuel Valls, after a reshuffle prompted by a row over economic policy within the Socialist Party and the departure of three left-wing ministers.
Top ministers (foreign affairs and finance) remained in their posts but the big surprise was the appointment of former Rothschild banker and ex-Hollande advisor Emmanuel Macron as economy minister.
Other changes included Najat Vallaud-Belkacem’s appointment as education minister, the first woman to hold that position.
