CNN: The embattled Iraqi Prime Minister Nouri al-Maliki is stepping aside, according to the al-Iraqia state television and paving the way for the candidacy of Haidar al-Ebadi. The president of Iraq asked al-Ebadi to form a government.
Maliki said he is stepping down and surrendering his post as prime minister to Haidar al-Ebadi.
