Head of the Tehran city council’s Commission on Health, Environment and City Services emphasized the fact that health has been neglected during the past 30 years under the mullahs’ rule and delivered shocking and alarming numbers of water, air and food contamination in Tehran.
“Numbers show that Tehran witnesses 2,400 deaths due to air pollution, 4,500 are hospitalized and 2,500 heart illness patients are also hospitalized due to air pollution,” Hafezi said.
“The drying of Lake Urumieh is the result of 20 years of economic wrongdoing. The farming grounds around the lake have increased from 158,000 hectares to 700,000 hectares. However, the buildings of dams have blocked water and a large amount of the lands have been dried up,” he added.
