Fate of Kurdish female student uncertain

Afsaneh Bayazidi, 28, was arrested at her residence in the western city of Bukan on June 6, and is still in security forces’ custody.
“The agents told Afsaneh Bayazidi’s father that her daughter was transferred to IRGC base, situated outside the city in Shahindej Road, but when he showed up at the place, they said that Afsaneh was not there and they were not informed of her arrest,” a source close to her family said.
Afsaneh was recently transferred from Bukan Payame Noor University to Maragheh Payame Noor University where she had an argument with the ‘Zeinab Sisters’ (Bassij female forces) resulting in her arrest in Bukan.
Bayazidi had been previously arrested along with her brother, Shahoo, in November 2013 for ‘cooperating with a Kurd opposition group’. Afsaneh was then sentenced to a two-year suspended prison-term and her brother to 6 months. They were later released on a 1billion rial bond.
