Eight drug addicts die each day in Iran: official

An Iranian official in the so-called fight against drugs department reported there are many drug addicts using a substance by the name of ‘Silent Earthquake’.
“Every three hours a youth dies due to drug addiction and this means in one day 8 people die because of addiction. Unfortunately, these individuals are in their young ages and amongst our active population,” he said.
The state-run ISNA news agency cited this regime official, Majid Hosseini, describing drug addiction and narcotics as “Iran’s fourth crisis.”
“Today, the issues related to drugs are the fourth major cause of deaths after road accidents and heart illnesses. More than 50% of our inmates are behind bars due to drug-related charges. Furthermore the element behind 50% of divorces is also drugs,” he added.
This regime official also reported of the amount of drugs destroyed and its increase in comparison to last year as an achievement for the regime and said, “This year, nearly 100 tons of drugs will be destroyed this week. Nearly 50 tons will be in Tehran and the remaining will be destroyed in 20 other provinces. Last year, 15 provinces took such measures but this year this number has increased to 21 provinces.”
