Syria: Assad Special Forces battalion commander killed in Latakia

Mohamed Ma’rouf, commander of the 48th Special Forces Battalion of Assad’s forces, has been recently killed, Orient TV reported on Sunday, May 4th, citing the Free Syrian Army. In addition to this nine other officers accompanying him were also killed in these rebel attacks. Immediately after this development was reported by Syrian state websites three large groups of Syrians said they have joined the Anfal operations.
The rebels staged another attack against Syrian forces to liberate the city of Qastal Mo’af, killing a number of other Assad elements.
