No optimism on Iran: Robert Gates

Segments of Robert Gates’ interview with Fox News

Former US Defense Secretary Robert Gates said Obama is not very optimistic on Iran, referring to the mullahs’ various excuses used to buy time and lengthening the nuclear talks.
I have two concerns, he said, adding the first is that it has been said this is a six-month long negotiation and Iran knows how to make a 6-month long talk into a 10-month talk, then to a year, then say if we put more time we will be very close to a deal. This is the characteristic of politicians, Gates continued, to not end the negotiations. Therefore, in my opinion having a timetable for these negotiations is very important and it cannot be lengthened, he finalized.
