A number of US Congressman have called on President Barack Obama to not allow Iran’s new ambassador to the United Nations enter US soil.
Senator Robert Menendez, Chairman of the Senate Foreign Affairs Committee, said in an interview with Reuters that the State Department must not issue a visa for Hamid Abutalebi, adding issuing a visa for such an individual is concerning.
Senator John McCain also emphasized Abutalebi should not be allowed inside the US.
Republican Senator Ted Cruz has presented a draft bill to the US Senate not allowing into the US individuals who have carried out hostile measures against this country.
Hamid Abutalebi was appointed by Rouhani as the Iranian regime’s new ambassador to the UN. He was one of the hostage takers during the US Embassy takeover in Iran back in November 1979.
