Latest developments in Ukraine

British Foreign Secretary William Hague described Russia’s meddling in Ukraine as the biggest crisis in centuries for Europe. He warned Russia in a press conference if it does not respect Ukraine’s territorial sovereignty there will be consequences, adding Russia must have no doubt in this regard and that the UK has taken this issue very seriously.
Dozens of military forces without any signs have since Sunday surrounded a Ukraine army base near a village in Crimea. This base is located on a hill and near a road linking the center of Crimea to the beaches of the Black Sea. Although they are Russian forces they have covered their faces and their clothing has no signs of the Russian Army. Military experts view this as seizing Crimea without bloodshed.
G8 countries, instead of Russia, announced in a statement that the upcoming meeting of this entity in Moscow is suspended. The G8 consists of the world’s 8 industrial countries including the US, Germany, the UK, Italy, France, Russia, Japan and Canada.
The 28 members of NATO held an emergency session on Sunday in Brussels regarding the security problems caused by Russia’s military presence in Ukraine.
