Iran: 19 executions in one week alone

The Iranian regime’s vicious wave of executions continues in the New Year, with 19 inmates hanged from January 6th to the 12th alone. This includes seven prisoners sent to the gallows in the cities of Urumieh, Salmas and Mashahd.
Four prisoners were executed in Urumieh, with one identified as Ahmad Shafigh Khani having only 19 years of age at the time of his arrest. Two days prior to that 5 prisoners were hanged in Ghazvin, Gachsaran and Tabriz. The hanging of a prisoner in Sari (January 6th) and a 45 year old inmate from Zabol in Yasuj Prison (January 12th) are amongst the number of executions registered in the past week.
One shocking report leaked out by Shiraz’s Adel Abad Prison inmates indicates continuous secret executions in this notorious dungeon. According to this report on January 4th two prisoners by the names of Hamid Tabakhi and Aghi Mohammadi were secretly hanged in this prison. Hamid Tabakhi was a teenager under the age of 18.
On January 8th, three other prisoners by the names of Omid Hosseini, 21, Majid Hayati and Bashir Assadi were secretly executed.
