INTV, 26 Nov 2013 – Iraqi MP Ahmed al-Alwani, chair of the Iraqi Parliament Economy Commission, warned of Maliki’s support for paramilitary groups.
“Following his political setbacks, Maliki is attempting to lead the country towards sectarian warfare. However, we are more wary than Maliki and his party and coalition. There are red lines that cannot be passed,” he added.
Iraq’s al-Rafedein TV in its report cited MPs saying Maliki's government has given a green light to sectarian military groups coming from Iran to destroy Iraqis’ security, all aimed at maintaining his rule over the country. The MPs have called on the United Nations, Arab League and Organization of Islamic Conference to intervene and stop the trend of sectarian killings and forced migration imposed on the Iraqi people.
