AFP: French dignitaries call for release of seven Ashrafi hostages

INTV, 21 Oct 2013 – Agence France Presse reported French dignitaries called for an international fact-finding mission on the raid conducted by Iraqi military personnel against Camp Ashraf, which according to opposition movement People’s Mojahedin Organization of Iran, witnessed a massacre on September 1st.
These dignitaries, including former foreign minister Bernard Kouchner, Ruber Bedenter and Ingrid Betancourt, called for the immediate release of the seven hostages abducted from Ashraf and currently held by Maliki’s forces.
The signatories of this call said, “France must immediately lead an initiative to provide security for the residents of Camp Liberty where Iranian refugees are residing in Iraq.”
The European Parliament on October 10th called “immediate and unconditional” release of the seven Iranian dissidents abducted on September 1 in Ashraf, and “strongly” condemned the attack on that day, leading to the death of 52 people according to UN statistics.
