Final Report on Iraqi VP Dr. Tareq al-Hashemi visit to Brussels

INTV, 20 Oct 2013 – Iraqi Vice President Dr. Tareq al-Hashemi in his website announced the successful completion of his visit to Brussels and expressed his gratitude of members of the European Union.
A segment of this report is as follows:
“After entering Belgium, Tareq al-Hashemi went to the European Parliament to take part in a formal session organized by dozens of European Union members and many civil organization activists, along with political and military dignitaries who had previously worked in Iraq. The present dignitaries in this session expressed their surprise regarding the facts revealed by Tareq al-Hashemi on human rights violations by Maliki’s security forces; the vast deterioration of the security dossier; the spread of corruption in government institutions; and taking control over and politicizing the country’s judiciary apparatus by the ruling Dawa Party.
“At the end of this visit the Iraqi Vice President took part in a press conference in the Palace of Conferences where MEP Struan Stevenson and many other European Parliament Members, along with former Algerian premier Sid Ahmed Ghozali and former UNAMI human rights chief Tahar Boumedra.
“The Iraqi Vice President expressed his deep gratitude of the European Parliament and the Belgian government for their hospitality and facilitating measures for this visit and his stay.
“Tareq al-Hashemi also thanked EU countries and their representatives for disregarding judicial orders issued by the Iraqi government, showing that they view these rulings as being political in nature and that the Iraqi judiciary has lost its historic credibility, solidity and impartiality.
“Finally, Tareq al-Hashemi made a commitment before the Iraqi people to be a strong voice for them in the international community and express their demands to rid the cruelty they are facing from the criminal ruling party in Iraq.”
