Bandar Abbas residents continue protests; regime anti-riot forces attack demonstrators

INTV, 18 Oct 2013 – According to reports received from inside Iran, on Thursday, October 17th, when people and youth of Bandar Abbas gathered outside the regime’s radio and television station protesting the plan to divide their province, the State Security Force anti-riot units responded by attacking and beating them. These agents, mostly dispatched from other cities, viciously attacked the protesters with batons, hitting them in their heads and arresting many of the youth. The mobile phones of many of those arrested were off and their families were not able to contact them. According to reports obtained the people and the families of those arrested are planning to take action to free their loved ones.
A police colonel has said the regime has ordered them if the protesters’ numbers reaches 1,500 they should not take any action; if it exceeds that number they should retreat, and if their numbers were less than that they should attack them with batons.
The people send this text in messages and called on all people in Hormozgan Province to unit and join their rally.
The presence of women in this demonstration chanting slogans against the regime’s plan to divide the province was significant. The regime’s agents tried to broadcast verses of the Quran in an attempt to prevent others from hearing the demonstrations chanting.
