Iran labor protests – LATEST

NCRI, 4 Oct 2013 – Monday, October 1: Some 50 bakers in the south of Tehran gathered in protest in the southwest district of Tehran.
The protestors said that it has been almost 10 days that flour subsidies coming from wheat storages have not been given to the bakers and they are forced to buy flour from the market with a very high price. This has caused great problems for the bakers and people buying bread.
Monday, September 30: More than 150 laid-off workers from factories in the city of Karaj gathered outside the insurance bureau.
Sunday, September 29: Farmers in the city of Lordegan, Chahar-mahal and Bakhtiari Province burnt down the building of agriculture ministry on, following their protest that lasted several days.
These farmers had protested against the nonpayment of their insurance. However, the officials paid no attention and neglected their demands. Therefore, they burnt down the building to convey their voice and message.
Saturday, September 28: The protest and strike of workers of Pounel Company in the city of Pakdasht entered its fourth week.
The workers have been protesting to the closure of the company and expulsion of the workers.
Saturday, September 21: Some 350 workers of the industrial town of Dasht Zari in the province of Chaharmahal and Bakhtiari gathered in protest outside the factory and closed down the main road for 3 hours.
These workers were laid-off work without any previous warrant or reasons. The protestors closed down the main road in unity and made a very huge traffic for several hours.
The workers claimed that they will continue with their protest in case they do not receive their demands within 10 days.
