MEP Edit Bauer calls for the immediate release of seven Ashrafi hostages

INTV, 29 Sep 2013 – MEP Edit Bauer from the Group of the European People’s Party (Christian Democrats) in a message emphasized on the need to have the seven Ashrafi hostages released immediately.
Her message is as follows:
“I am really shocked and appalled by the horrible on Camp Ashraf that we saw the footage in the European Parliament. This attack is beyond any barbarity that we have ever seen. It is a systematic killing and extermination of asylum seekers in broad daylight. The European Parliament has been one of the most active parliaments on the question of Ashraf.
“We have adopted several resolutions calling on Iraq to respect your rights but unfortunately it is becoming ever more clear that we are dealing with a dictatorship in Iraq that follows the dictates of mullahs in Iran.
“We have called on Baroness Ashton among others to act to make clear to Iraqi authorities that we do not accept these kinds of behaviors and that EU cannot maintain links with those who kill innocent people.
“The most urgent issue now is the release of the six women and one man who were taken hostage from Ashraf during the massacre. They are on hunger strike. I know that many of Camp Liberty and around the world like London, Berlin, Geneva and Ottawa are also on hunger strike in solidarity with them. You should know that we support your courage and dedication for freedom and democracy and you can always count on us until the day you achieve that freedom.
“The mullahs may think that they have killed some of your brave colleagues. But be sure those brave men and women continue to live in our hearts and minds and continue to inspire the whole nation until the day freedom comes to your homeland.”
