The Friday prayer leader in the restive Iraqi city of Samarra described Nouri Maliki as a ‘pharaoh’.
“We say to the new pharaoh, the autocratic pharaoh, the pharaoh of Iraq, look at your dictatorship and you said all these people are nothing,” he said.
“Why did you target the constitution? You violated the constitution, you trampled the slate that won the elections, you violated the law of the larger faction, you established your own federal court to interpret laws as you prefer. You broke your promises and accords, imposed your dictatorship over all the agreements. Where is the Arbil Agreement now that made you the prime minister? More examples of your dictatorship include taking over the ministries of Interior, Defense and Information and becoming the commander in chief. You are ruling over all these administrations while Operations Command officers have no legal authority, and you also increased the number of prisons outside the authority of the Ministry of Defense,” he added.
