Iran: IRGC conference warns about collapse of regime

NCRI, 3 Feb 2013 – Iran’s Revolutionary Guard has held a crisis conference warning regime may be on the verge of collapse ahead of this year’s tightly sham presidential elections.

In a conference held last week by the Revolutionary Guards (IRGC) entitled ”The Everlasting Vision”, speakers warned economic sanctions could cause massive social unrest during regime’s presidential elections in June.

They urged IRGC soldiers and Bassij paramilitary volunteers to be ready to crush any resistance that could threaten the rule of supreme leader Ali Khamenei.

Mullah Ali Saidi Shahroudi, Khamenei’s representative to IRGC told 1,400 IRGC officials to ensure the devotion of the Revolutionary Guards and Bassij paramilitary force to the velayat-e faqih (supreme leader).

“One can imagine the whole world mobilizing against Iran.  And one can also imagine Iran is leading all Islamic countries against the rest of the world,” he said.

“We should not tolerate any carelessness in the Revolutionary Guards and Basij,” Saeedi added. “They must be scared of no one. They should realize the importance of their political role as well as their military role.  They should all be encouraged to give their full support to the supreme leader.  They should analyze the 2009 social uprisings and find ways to tackle such events in the future.”

Ali Saeedi’s deputy, Mullah Abdullah Haji Sadeghi said in an analysis of the past 34 years of the regime that opposition factions could now be plotting to target the supreme leader during the elections.

“In the past we had to deal with the PMOI issue, the Bani Sadr issue, the Montazeri issue, the secularism issue and finally the election four years ago,” he said.
“All of these had first planned to overthrow the regime, then if unsuccessful, try to convince the supreme leader to listen to them. What is going to happen next? What is in their intention? Everything suggests that the supreme leader is the target.”

Another speaker warned of five ways that might be used by the US trying to topple the Iranian regime.

First, the US was trying to tighten and broaden sanctions in a bid to convince Iran to change its position.

Secondly, they were engaging in a variety of methods aimed at fuelling social protests against Iran’s nuclear ambitions.

Thirdly, they sought to install moderates in Iran who could build into a big enough majority to bring about regime change.

Fourthly, they were making direct threats to attack Iran by and assassinate Iran’s nuclear scientists.

And finally, he said the US was trying to convince all other nations that Iran is a threat to the world.
