Rajavi: NCRI only possible alternative to end dictatorship in Iran

In an interview with the Spanish EFE news agency (December 18, 2012), Maryam Rajavi, President-elect of the Iranian Resistance emphasized the Iranian opposition believes the Iran Spring, similar to the Arab Spring uprisings, will bring an end to the mullahs’ rule in Iran.

EFE described Maryam Rajavi as the leader of the main opposition movement facing the mullahs’ rule in Iran, adding Mrs. Rajavi visited Spain this week to gain the support of Spanish politicians and media for the Iranian people’s resistance and to back her initiative for the recognition of the National Council of Resistance of Iran as the official negotiating party representing Iran, as the international community has now recognized dissidents of Bashar Assad in Syria.
The regime in Iran has continued its existence only by inflicting terror, torture and executions which have mainly targeted NCRI supporters, EFE added.
Negotiations with this regime are completely meaningless, Rajavi said, insisting on change in Iran by the Iranian people.
Rajavi shows a book of pictures of victims of Iran’s crackdown, including her sister who was executed while pregnant, adding the mullahs’ went so far as to executing 12 members of one family alone just for providing financial support for the resistance.
The end of this regime will also bring stability and tranquility throughout the world, Rajavi continued, stressing this will also resolve the threat of the mullahs’ nuclear ambitions and their support of terrorism across the region.

This Iranian leader sees similarities between the conditions in Syria and Iran, EFE said, with Rajavi explaining both regimes are facing serious challenges from the inside. However, they enjoy support from countries such as Russia and China providing them support to remain in power.
Maryam Rajavi is certain Iran’s decision to support Syria is based on the fact that the mullahs’ senior ranks believe Assad’s fall will be a development leading to the crumbling of their own rule inside Iran.
This Iranian leader, invited to Spain by a group of MPs and senators, explained that in her meeting with Spanish Senate Foreign Affairs Committee members she presented her ideas for a future Iran.
Rajavi concluded she will continue her struggle until the leaders of the mullahs’ regime are brought to justice before international courts for crimes against humanity.
