Under judicial pressure, US delists PMOI

France Soir3, 29 Sep 2012 – The main Iranian opposition force People’s Mojahedin Organization of Iran against the Iranian regime has been delisted from the US list of terrorist organizations. Their spokesman lives in France and believes her movement has a political role to play. We listen to her remarks.
Anchorman: For years the PMOI was placed in the witness stand of nations, especially in the United States which considered this organization as a terrorist group. US officials have decided to remove it from the black list. The PMOI, with their international base in Paris, are struggling against the regime ruling Iran. Now they hope they will have more political influence. More from Luke Legen Bucshe:
Luke Legen Busche: A clear piece of paper than ends 15 years of banning and invectives. This fax sent by the US State Department removes the People’s Mojahedin Organization of Iran from the list of terrorist organizations.
May 1997, Mohammad Khatami is elected as president in Iran. Six months later, as a goodwill gesture to a person who is presented as a reformist, the US places the PMOI – Tehran’s sworn enemy – in the terrorists list.
Now, the US has removed them from the list due to judiciary pressure.
NCRI President Maryam Rajavi: From now on the Iranian resistance will be able to focus on the Iranian people’s objectives, meaning overthrowing the mullahs’ regime and also the future of a free and democratic Iran.
Reporter: Because it has been 15 years that the Iranian resistance has placed its energy in defending itself. Like in France in 2003, when the police initiated the largest anti-terrorism operation after the war. An operation that also led people setting themselves ablaze and finally an order to end prosecution. Each time courts around the world punish those conspiring with Iran and label the PMOI as terrorist.
Saleh Rajavi: We were in the terrorist lists of Europe, Canada, Australia and the US. And today, thanks to our persistence we have been removed from all these lists and we can finally fight against autarchy in our country with our heads high.
Maryam Rajavi: I believe that Western countries cannot prevent the mullahs’ regime. The only way is democratic change by the Iranian people and their organized resistance.
Reporter: The Iranian resistance from now on will devote itself 100% to bring about this change.
