PMOI welcomes removal from US terrorist list

AKI (Italy), Paris, 29 Sep 2012 – Opposition People’s Mojahedin Organization of Iran leader Maryam Rajavi welcomed US Secretary of State Hillary Clinton’s decision on delisting this organization and the National Council of Resistance of Iran from the terrorist list, describing it as a correct and difficult decision that demanded political courage from Washington.
Iranian officials in Tehran will “not conceal their anger and disappointment and are trying hysterically to counter Secretary Clinton’s decision with their lobby groups in the United States, the United Kingdom and Europe,” she said.
“The people of America and the US Government will realize that, contrary to the campaign of demonization and misinformation orchestrated by the religious fascism ruling Iran, our movement is far removed from all the allegations and accusations churned out by the current Iranian regime, is merely striving for freedom and democracy in Iran, and is campaigning against fundamentalism and export of terrorism,” Rajavi added.
“We propose a non-nuclear Iran, peace, security, democracy, human rights, stability, construction, friendship, and economic development in this region of the world as well as respect for international laws and conventions,” she continued, adding, “We are seeking change in Iran by the Iranian people and their just resistance. We want the sovereignty of the people and a free election.  At the same time, we call on the international community to definitively abandon the policy of appeasement vis-à-vis the religious dictatorship ruling Iran and to support the Iranian people’s right to freedom and resistance.”
