Statement by Falah al-Naqib, Iraqi MP and former Minister of Interior in Alawi Government

Decision to commence sixth convoy from Ashraf to Liberty sign of Ashraf residents’ gesture of goodwill and high level of cooperation

The immense pressure imposed by the Iranian regime on the Iraqi Government is one of the main reasons for the Ashraf residents’ suffering from lack of services and inhumane treatment.
The decision to commence the sixth convoy from Ashraf to Liberty in the upcoming days is a goodwill gesture that shows their high level of cooperation.
The US Government has specific commitments and obligations towards the Ashraf residents and it is up to the US to live up to these commitments and protect the residents.
Seventy four members of the Iraqi Parliament asked in their letter addressing US Secretary of State Hillary Clinton to implement the Washington, D.C Court of Appeals order to delist the PMOI. This will send a clear message to the Iraqi Government, leaving no pretext for further crimes against the residents.
It is the responsibility of the Iraqi Government to oblige by the Fourth Geneva Convention, especially the articles relating to humanitarian rights, and to provide basic necessities at Camp Liberty, since the PMOI are the dear guests of Iraq and its people.
