US should honor duties on delisting PMOI: Iraqi deputy PM

Iraqi Deputy Prime Minister Dr. Saleh al-Mutlak called on the US to live up to its duties based on delisting the People’s Mojahedin Organization of Iran, Agence France Presse reported on Sunday. This measure will be aimed at facilitating the transfer of PMOI members in Iraq, he added.
“Substantially, the ball is in the US court now,” Saleh al-Mutlak said. “Previously Washington had promised to delist this organization if the PMOI transferred from Ashraf to Liberty, and in this regard their transfer to third countries outside of Iraq and wherever they may wish will be facilitated.”
AFP added, “At the beginning of the transfer from Camp Ashraf, the PMOI had announced its agreement based on a settlement reached between the Iraqi government and United Nations. However, this organization reminded subsequently, “The atmosphere in the new camp is similar to a police state and the new site suffers from lack of water and services,” also protesting Iraqi police not allowing its members to transfer some of their properties to Liberty.
Saleh al-Mutlak, a senior member of the Iraqiya Coalition led by former Iraqi Prime Minister Ayad Allawi, referring to the fact the PMOI in Iraq have now attracted worldwide attention, added, “Today, it is requested from the US to delist this organization to therefore have this crisis ended in a humanitarian, civil and moral manner.”
Saleh al-Mutlak strongly rejected any use of force to transfer the remaining 1200 residents in Ashraf and said, “I reject any use of force against PMOI members in Iraq and I believe that right now it is our duty to protect them.”
