Catastrophic quake in NW Iran; mullahs covering up widespread proportions of casualties and destruction

Iranian Resistance President-elect calls on Iranians across the country to provide independent assistance for the quake stricken regions

While the number of casualties and scope of destruction caused by Saturday’s earthquake in the provinces of East Azerbaijan, West Azerbaijan, Ardebil and Zanjan is on the rise, the mullahs’ dictatorship is attempting to cover up the actual casualty statistics.
Concealing the dimension of destruction caused along with long delays in providing assistance have become a scandal and a deliberate crime leading to numerous protests.
Even a member of the mullahs’ Majlis (parliament) members clearly admitted to the regime’s efforts in covering up the actual number of casualties. “The critical conditions in Varzaghan have been kept secret by the province’s crisis office and the first provincial medical groups were dispatched to the region at midnight,” he said.

AFP wired a report citing a man, who asked not to be named, saying they had waited all night outside in the cold waiting until the Red Crescent arrived at 4 a.m.
The village Baje Baj, located 30 kilometers from the city of Zarghan in northwestern Iran, is among the dozens of villages destroyed by Saturday’s two quakes and literally wiped off the map. What is left on Sunday is nothing but ruins, men with home-made and basic tools hasting to find their loved ones among the rubbles… The village men were busy in the farms and their wives and daughters preparing the iftar dinner when this tragedy took place.
Iranian Resistance President-elect Mrs. Maryam Rajavi in her message of condolences to the Iranian people emphasized on the necessity to provide independent popular assistance from all over the country to the quake stricken regions of northwestern Iran. She especially called on neighboring towns and cities to rise to the help of the earthquake hit regions and save the lives of the injured and homeless.
Mrs. Rajavi, referring to the vast destruction and heavy casualties, reiterated this is only an example of the felonious and anti-Iranian policies of the mullahs who exert the country’s resources and wealth to exporting terrorism and building nuclear weaponry instead of providing for the people’s fundamental needs.

While the homeless are now suffering from a serious lack of food, clothing and shelter, the mullahs’ dictatorship has refused international assistance to prevent the exposure of the actual scope of destruction and the people’s sufferings.
“The Red Crescent needs no international assistance,” said the mullahs’ Red Crescent Public Relations Director General while also announcing many countries have declared their readiness to provide assistance.
Meanwhile, the Iranian regime’s hated state-run media for hours remained silent in airing news of the earthquake while international media were widely covering the story. This even raised protests amongst the regime’s own factions.
“The people were very discontent of the coverage provided by state media on Saturday’s earthquake, and despite hundreds of people being under the rubble after the quake, no morning television programs referred to this tragedy at all,” a Majlis member said.
“Saturday evening the news of the devastating earthquake in the country’s northwestern region that left many casualties was quickly covered by news agencies, news websites and social networks,” a state-run media outlet wrote. “This incident even became top news in various satellite networks while it took hours for this to reach internal networks!”
The mullahs’ state-run newspapers published other stories in their front pages on Sunday in an effort to keep a lid on the catastrophic earthquake. Most of the papers covered the earthquake in their inner pages.
