Southern prominent Iraqi tribal sheikh warned against Iran’s meddling in Iraq

In an interview with Baghdad TV, chairman of the Arabic Tribal Association in Southern Iraq, Sheikh Kadhim al-Anizan, warned of expanding meddling of the Iranian regime in Iraq and called it the main reason of violence in the region.

Sheikh Kadhim al-Anizan said: The criminal gangs are supported by the Iranian Ministry of Intelligence (MIOS). The assassinations have targeted intellectuals, physicians and tribal Sheikhs.

He emphasized: I hold the responsibility of what is happening in southern Iraq on the Iranian regime. This regime exports IEDs, arms and ammunition to Iraq. While arms are coming from Iran, it is clear that this regime is the main playerThe Iranian regime has deteriorated the situation in Basra.

In response to the question of what the solution is to confront this situation, Sheikh al-Anizan, referring Badr Corps and other militias affiliated with the Iranian regime, said: All Basra political parties have arms and militias and the tribal sheikhs are trapped amongst them; what can tribal sheikhs do against an armed political force whose equipment is more than Iraqi Army? What interests has a regime which seeks federalism in Basra? This regime spends millions of dollars for establishing a state in southern Iraq.

Sheikh Kadhim al-Anizan reiterated that the only way to end this situation is confrontation against the militias affiliated to the Iranian regime and ending its interferences.
