Kirkuk Province sheikhs in Iraq condemn repressive plan of Ashraf residents’ relocation to Liberty

Urgent call to UN Secretary General and US government to prevent prison-making measures in Liberty

Declaration: Sheikh Jalal Gharib Mahi-addin al-Talabani, General Sheikh of al-Talabani Tribe in Kirkuk
“We are witnessing Ashraf residents’ rights being violated and they have virtually been forced into this decision. We have also been informed the objective of Ashraf residents’ relocation to Liberty was to annihilate the legitimate Iranian opposition. Therefore, the relocation of Ashraf residents to Liberty is nothing but to execute the plans of the Iranian regime in Iraq against its legitimate opposition in our country.”

Declaration: Mahmoud Omar Abbas Jaf, General Sheikh of Jab Tribe in Kirkuk
“We regret the nonchalance by the UN Secretary General’s Special Representative to Iraq and the hasty report of the shelter expert of this organization that has wrongly portrayed all the facts. We seriously condemn this conspiracy and call on His Excellency UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon to prevent the implementation of this criminal plan by the Iraqi government.”

Declaration: Sheikh Madhat Ahmad Sharif al-Salehi
“We seriously condemn this repressive and illegal plan and call on the UN Secretary-General and the US government to not allow the Iraqi government carry out these repressive plans and also call on the UN and US to guarantee the minimum necessities for Ashraf residents, including all Iraqi armed forces exiting Camp Liberty, allowing Ashraf residents to transfer their vehicles and moveable property to Liberty, unfettered access to medical services and freedom of movement inside and outside of the camp.”
