In line with sanctions imposed on the clerical regime, Thailand refused to refuel Iranian airplanes at its airports. Thus, two ‘Mahan Air’ planes en route from Bangkok to Tehran had to land in Kolkata for refueling on Monday. The Indian newspaper Telegraph reported that the 481 passengers spent 14 hours in the plane because India doesn’t have a refueling contract with Iranian airlines.
Finally, Kolkata airport management asked the Iranian embassy to pay in cash for refueling the two aircrafts.
