Azerbaijan Republic Officially accused Iranian Regime of Plotting against It

The National Security Ministry of Azerbaijan released a statement on Friday and announced officially that the Iranian regime is involved in spying and plotting against Azerbaijan Republic.

This statement reads: The Iranian intelligence entities and the Islamic Revolutionary Guards Corps (IRGC) were cooperating with members of a detained group named “Saeed Group” with spying goals. Saeed Dadash Bigly who had connection with the Iranian regime, had formed a group named “Mahdi Army” in order to make a Coup and to establish a religious government in Azerbaijan. Some members of this group have secret connections with IRGC with Bigly’s agreement.

Based on the aforementioned statement, two members of this group, Jaihoun Aliof and Jahangir Karimof, met with Iranian regime’s security agents during several trips to Iranian cities of Qom, Rasht, Tehran and Mashhad in 2005 and 2006. These two cooperated as spies with the Iranian Ministry of Intelligence with nick names of Mostafa and Hassan. They received different trainings in Iran including using light and heavy weapons and employing and implanting explosive materials.

According to the statement, the Iranian intelligence organs asked Karimof in one of his trips to Iran to present them necessary intelligence about the Baku-Jaihan pipeline. The Iranian intelligence organs paid Karimof one thousand dollars to buy a camera to take pictures from that pipeline.

The members of this group were accused of treason to home, efforts for Coup and other crimes by the Azerbaijani Court, and were sentenced to jail.
