The Arab Women Council in Defense of 1000 Ashraf Women acknowledged the military occupation of areas of Ashraf by forces of Nouri al-Maliki as crime against humanity and condemned it.
The declaration of this committee writes:
“The Arab Women Council in Defense of 1000 Ashraf Women considers the concerning news about the military invasion of Ashraf by Iraqi Army units as a dangerous measure and a grave breach of international conventions.
The Arab Women Council in Defense of 1000 Ashraf Women warns that the use of military force in a disarmed area under international protection can be subject to legal persecution. We note that the military siege on Ashraf is a collective crime against innocent people, therefore it is considered as crime against humanity, thus Iraqi military forces should pull-out from Ashraf immediately, and if they have a security responsibility, they can carry it out outside of Ashraf.
There is no doubt that the pressure forced against Ashraf residents is a political plot in favor of the Iranian regime and the suppression of its dissidents.”
