Urgent call to end Iraqi forces’ attacks on Ashraf: Iranian opposition

According to a report published by Kuwait’s al-Seyassah daily, the Iranian opposition issued an urgent international call requesting an end to Iraqi security forces’ attacks on Camp Ashraf. Simultaneously, the Iraqi forces prevented two ophthalmologist and internal specialists from entering Ashraf. These medical specialists had after many months of delay finally come to Ashraf. Ashraf residents had transferred the hospital along with all its equipment to the Iraqi government, yet it has now been turned into a center for suppression and torture.
Under orders of the Iraqi Prime Ministry suppressive committee issued a month ago, Iraqi forces began to expand the fenced perimeters of the hospital, annexing areas inside Ashraf to the hospital to have a more free hand in carrying out their suppressive measures. In fact, this hospital is currently completely occupied by Iraqi military forces.
al-Seyassah added: On the other hand, the National Council of Resistance of Iran has issued an urgent call to the UN Security Council, UN Representative in Iraq, US Ambassador in Iraq and the USF-I commander to intervene immediately to bring an end to these hostile and suppressive acts by the Iraqi forces.
This council called on the US forces to assume the responsibility of Ashraf’s protection and safety according to their commitments, in order for a UN monitoring to station in Ashraf.
