Did Iran Know About the Yemen Terror Plot?

FORBES, Oct. 31 2010 –
As British Home Secretary Theresa May confirms that the packages in planes departing Dubai and the UK for the US indeed contained explosives powerful enough to destroy a cargo plane (and possibly a passenger plane, had they been on one), Iran continues to maintain that no explosives have been found.
Why?
Does this relate to President Ahamdinejad’s recent determination to investigate the events of 9/11 (which he has called “a complete fabrication”), and specifically to determine “why 3000 Jews did not show up for work” at the World Trade Center by 8:45 am on that day? Or the Parliament’s determination that the US Government stood behind the Koran-burning plans that were scheduled (most notably by Florida pastor Terry Jones) on this year’s 9/11 anniversary?
As Iran continues to sponsor and encourage Shi’ite insurgents in Iraq, and stands accused of state sponsorship of terrorism in Afghanistan and Lebanon, one has to wonder what, exactly, its role may be in Yemen – and how close its ties may be to Al Qaeda on the Arabian Peninsula. This past March, General David H. Petraeus, Commander of U.S. Central Command, noted the close ties between Al Qaeda and Iran, stating, according to the Washington Times, that Al Qaeda “continues to use Iran as a key facilitation hub, where facilitators connect al Qaedas senior leadership to regional affiliates.”
So the question is: Was Iran involved in the latest bombing attempts? And if so, what do we do about it
