Iran: Resistance Units commemorate National Students Day

Reporting by PMOI/MEK

Iran, December 9, 2020—Despite the Iranian regime's intensified repressive measures on the anniversary of the Iran’s National Students Day, anti-regime activities were organized in various cities.

In recent days, the members of the Iranian Resistance Units, a network of activists affiliated with the main Iranian opposition movement the People’s Mojahedin Organization of Iran (PMOI/MEK) continued to campaign for regime change in Iran and honored the National Students Day.

In various cities, the Resistance Units spread anti-regime slogans and installed posters of Iranian Resistance leader Massoud Rajavi and President-elect of the National Council of Resistance of Iran (NCRI) Maryam Rajavi.

In the center of Tehran, a huge poster of Massoud Rajavi was installed with the slogan: “Rebellious youth will write Iran’s destiny.”

The slogans of the Resistance Units targeted regime supreme leader Ali Khamenei. “Down with the principle of the Supreme Leader’s rule,” “Down with Khamenei, hail to Rajavi,” and “We can, and we must overthrow the dictator” some of the slogans read.

“Imprisoned students must be freed. As Massoud Rajavi said, we should rise and take back our rights from the mullahs,” one slogan read, while commemorating the National Students day in Iran.

The Resistance Units also honored Dr. Mohammad Maleki, a prominent Iranian academic, the first chancellor of Tehran University after the 1979 anti-monarchical revolution, and a vocal opponent of the Iranian regime. Dr. Maleni passed away on December 2, 2020.

The Resistance Units also spread slogans against the Revolutionary Guards (IRGC), the main institution responsible for the repression, persecution of protesters, and for looting of Iranian people’s wealth. “The IRGC must be disbanded,” the Resistance Units wrote, a slogan that is becoming increasingly popular across Iran.

These activities show braveness and courage of the MEK supporters inside the country. The regime punishes any support for the MEK with imprisonment, torture, and possibly execution. In recent years, the regime has mobilized all its propaganda machine to prevent the youths from joining the MEK.

The regime is furious about MEK’s activities and growing support inside the country. From 1980 until 2020, the regime has published more than 538 books, and more than 180 movies and series in the last decade only, against the MEK. All these efforts are aimed at spreading the narrative that there is no alternative to the regime. However, the regime has failed to prevent the MEK from gaining support among Iranians. And according to many regime officials, the MEK played a major role in leading and organizing major anti-regime protests back in November 2019 and January 2018.

Outrage against the regime’s suppressive centers

In recent days, the defiant and rebellious youth have targeted five IRGC Basij bases in Tehran, and Mashhad, including warehouse of the Khatam al-Anbia garrison, a major venture of the IRGC that has gobbled up much of Iran’s wealth and resources to spend it on terrorism and nefarious projects.

The Basij are the most hated suppressive paramilitary force inside Iran and a subsidiary of the terrorist-designated IRGC. Its main role is to preserve the mullahs’ rule through repressive measures against protests and demonstrations. The Basij played a prominent role in quelling the November 2019 protests and are part of the regime’s new plan to increase repressive measures on the anniversary of the uprising.

Rebellious Youth Torch Irgc Warehouses' Entrance

In Isfahan and Khorramabad, the defiant and brave youth torched two centers of spreading fundamentalism and Sharia Law, including the office of the supreme leader’s representative and Friday prayer imam of Khorramabad.

These are the main corrupt institutions, paving the way for suppressing the Iranian people and looting their wealth. Khamenei implements his suppressive policies in the cities through his representatives and Friday prayer imams.
