Iran, August 15, 2021—In recent days the network of the Iranian opposition movement the People’s Mojahedin Organization of Iran (PMOI/MEK) has continued its vast anti-regime campaign across the country.
Anti-regime slogans such as “Down with Khamenei and hail to Rajavi” were spread in various cities by the MEK’s internal network, known as the Iranian Resistance Units.
The Resistance Units installed posters and images of the Iranian opposition leader Maryam Rajavi and took to graffiti with anti-regime slogans in cities such as Tehran, Shiraz, Isfahan, Tonekabon, Mashhad, Shahr-e Kord, Karaj, Yasuj, Astara, Gorgan, Kermanshah, Birjand, Sari, Anzali, Behbahan, Bushehr, Qom, Rudsar, and Sonqor.
In Isfahan, one of the banners of the Resistance Units read, “Do not leave the risen cities alone… This is an uprising for overthrowing [the regime] and for freedom.” Following the recent protests in Khuzestan people in various cities had risen up to support Khuzestani people.
The resistance units also spread slogans such as “Down with the oppressor, be it the Shah or Ali Khamenei,” and “The Iranian people are aware and hate both Shah and mullahs,” reflecting the Iranian people’s desire not to return to the era of the Shah dictatorship.
In various places in Tehran, the Resistance Units installed images and posters of Maryam Rajavi, the President-elect of the National Council of Resistance of Iran (NCRI) with the slogan, “A free Iran with Maryam Rajavi.”
The Resistance Units also installed images of the Iranian Resistance leader Massoud Rajavi in various cities. This is while any support for the MEK or Maryam Rajavi is punished with heavy prison sentences and execution.
The Resistance Units also bravely spread slogans against the Iranian regime’s new president Ebrahim Raisi. In the city Rudsar a slogan read, “Ebrahim Raisi’s appointment as the Iranian regime’s president…is the start of the Iranian regime’s downfall.”
Also, in Kashan and other cities, the Resistance Units spread the slogan, “Down with Khamenei and the butcher of the 1988 massacre, Ebrahim Raisi.”
Ebrahim Raisi was the most active member of the “Death Commissions” in 1988 who sent 30,000 political prisoners to the gallows. Raisi is known to be the butcher of the MEK since most of the victims of the 1988 massacre were supporters, sympathizers, and members of the MEK.
These anti-regime campaigns are carried out while the regime tries to intensify repression with Ebrahim Raisi who has a brutal record and history. But the MEK’s Resistance Units have increased their activities with the aim to break the atmosphere of oppression.
